Rollapaluza’s Keirin Manchester Presented by Brakes at the National Cycling Centre
Rollapaluza’s Keirin festival came to Manchester’s famous National Cycling Centre for the first time on Saturday night, bringing indoors the excitement and atmosphere of the fast-paced event that has been such a hit at London’s outdoor Herne Hill velodrome for the last two years.
An international field of elite riders battled for the huge cash prize pot in the Brake’s sponsored male event with many of the UK’s top sprint talent facing riders from the Netherland’s, Latvia, Ghana, Angola and the mighty Damian Zieleinski of Poland. The female competition drew the best emerging talent from the UK sprint scene.
In a nod to the Japanese roots of Keirin, racers wore brightly coloured jerseys similar to those used in traditional Keirin races whilst spectators enjoyed Japanese noodles and sushi.
