Cycling Time Trials – National 24 Hour TT Championship (21st-22nd June 2014)

 

Jonathan Shubert (High Wycombe CC) had a unique training schedule to prepare for this championship – a 19,000 mile world tour. On Sunday this proved to be a successful plan when he achieved the outstanding distance of 516.81 miles, comfortably beating the favourite (the 2012 champion) Ultan Coyle (Look Mum, No Hands) who recorded 505.22 miles after a struggle which had lasted for most of the day.

 

The Ladies Champion was Lynne Biddulph (Born to Bike), the current end to end record holder, who did 449.01 miles, comfortably overcoming Marina Bloom (Rugby Road Club) who ran out of time with 410.38 miles covered.

 

Saturday afternoon was hot enough to cause discomfort and difficulties arose from an accident on the first circuit.
