Cretan Cycling Challenge

Ride and race on the idyllic island of Crete with Sports Promotion Hellas, a company which hosts international cycling and triathlon events, and in addition organises training camps in west Crete in the Chania and Rethymnon prefectures…

Though they are hosting a new international triathlon, called the “Cretan Challenge For 3” for the first time, based in the village of Kolympari, Chania, the main international event continues to be the “Cretan Cycling Challenge” which is a qualifier event of the UWCT Calendar.

 

The UWCT (UCI World Cycling Tour) is a series of 12 UCI-sanctioned races held all over the world for amateurs and masters category riders whereby the top 25% in each age group qualify for a final in Trento, Italy from 19th -22nd September, the event that used to be the UCI Masters Road World Championships, where the winners are still awarded the coveted rainbow jersey.

 

Launched in 2011, the aims of the UCI World Cycling Tour are to promote the globalization of “Cycling for All” – the 2013 sees an event in Asia – and cyclo-tourism under the organization, coordination and marketing of the new UWCT Corporation… (continued on page 2)>
