Velopace Spring Classic
So how would I rate Velopace’s first running of the Spring Classic? Well it had a tough, challenging route, plenty of facilities at the start and some useful items from Yellow Jersey. The signage was spot on, hot food at the timed stop and plenty of choice when it came to it, which is always a good sign we don’t all want gels; sometimes real food is what you need. And not forgetting the finisher’s bag of goodies: the usual advertising bits, some chamois cream, another waterproof phone case, a natty looking medal that my kids claimed, but most important of all – a bottle of beer. Not just any beer either, this was Brevet Best, specially brewed by the 360° Brewery for the Spring Classic. It went down just fine sat at home while watching the pros being blown around by the wind on the Gent-Wevelgem classic, a fate we had avoided. All in all a top day, Velopace. I would give you ten out of ten, chapeau!
Velopace’s next event is the Tri Store Sportive, which takes place on the second day of the Eastbourne Cycling Festival, which they are also organising. The weekend of cycling in June is definitely worth a visit, with so many events spread over two days you’ll be hard pressed to squeeze it all in. Check out their website to see their other events, which run all through the year.
