Video entitled “Winter Warrior – Cycling the Holme Moss Hill Climb”
A nicely shot little video here form ‘Wonky Pedal’. Holme Moss is such a famous climb and it’s even more epic when snow covered. As we are coming to the end of winter now it may not resonate as much as it might a few weeks ago, but it may bring back some memories…
The actual Holme Moss hill is over 500m high, whilst if you are heading south, the long 7km road climbs up for 394m total elevation, averaging 5.6% gradient with the steeper section in the penultimate kilometre at 11%. If you head north over the climb, it is a shorter 4km climb, with an elevation gain of 274m at a steeper average of 6.9%.
The climb featured in the 2014 Tour de France.
Wonky Pedal say, “Here is our video cycling the Holme Moss hill climb in Huddersfield, training in the cold winter months. The snow came down but the sun shined brightly illuminating the Yorkshire/Derbyshire border. Hopefully this will give you a bit of Cycling motivation to get pedaling in the chilly season. Ride on!”
Enjoy!
