eliteVELO Kalas CRT Team Launch Press Release
South West cycling team eliteVELO Kalas launch at Finlake Lodges, a women’s development and performance road racing team sponsored by eliteVELO Cycle Coaching and Kalas Sportswear.
eliteVELO Kalas officially launched this weekend following a successful training camp based at Newton Abbott’s Finlake Lodges where the team got to know each other whilst enjoying various activities at the holiday park and some long training rides on Dartmoor.
Brought together by Plymouth-based coaching company eliteVELO, the team aims to support aspiring athletes and provide them with a common platform to raise their performance; this includes coaching support and world class products.
The team will be competing at regional and national events including the Women’s Team Series and the aim is to become recognised as a leading regional women’s road team before progressing to a national level.
The team’s title sponsors are eliteVELO Cycle Coaching who will be actively supporting the team as well as coaching each rider. Kalas Sportswear is the team’s second title sponsor and have provided the team members with their exceptional quality kit for racing and training. The eliteVELO squad will also be supported by Madison (Lazer), Paligap (Powertap) and HandB (Powerbreathe).
Roy Wyle Smith, directeur sportif of the team says, “Our main objectives [in 2015] are to develop the members into a cohesive racing team, developing their fitness, skills and performance. Our racing goals are focused on the Women’s Team Series, a selection of the National Road Races and regional events the South West. We will also actively seek opportunities to race in higher profile criteriums and foreign events, but the goal is to build a strong foundation in 2015 and progress to the National Domestic Scene in 2016.”
The team consists of six athletes – Alice Miller from Devon; Francesca Morgans-Slader, London; Hester Stembridge, Devon; Jenny Powell, Gloucestershire; Julia Hesselberg, Hampshire; and Sophie Black from the Isle of Man.
