Archer Spring Criterium

West London’s Hillingdon circuit hosted the Archer Spring Criterium
With a roar and a one handed salute Tony Gibb, CSE Racing, outsprinted the whole of the remaining field at the end of the 58th annual Archer Spring Criterium at Hillingdon circuit for his hat trick of victories over the past three years and to claim another £100 first prize. There were 84 entries from 1st, 2nd and a few 3rd cat riders attracted by the bumper prize list and to unseat the uncrowned ‘King of Hillingdon’.
In fact with eight laps of the 50 mile race it looked as they might succeed as Mike Jackson, CC Luton, Craig McLean, Nuun/Sigma Sport, Luke Merillees, WyndyMilla/Reynolds, Clive Nicholls, Zappi CC, Alex Paton, Pedal Heaven/Colbournes, Alexander Royle, BH/Solidor, and Michael Mottram, KTM opened a 25 second lead and were working well. The pace told whittled them down to five, with McLean and Merillees dropping off, but victory still looked possible.
Alas for them, however, the CSE and Richardsons/Trek teams had lead out chains that would not have been out of place in pro racing and they were all together at the bell and the winner was almost inevitable, with Gibb having warmed to the task in recent weeks by winning the previous two Tuesday evening races.
