Cycle: Ride along the mighty Po River; cross the Appenine mountain range; meander over the rolling hills of Tuscany & Umbria; and cruise through beautiful medieval towns.
History: Trebbia, site of Hannibal’s first major battle on Italian soil; crossing the Arno swamps; Lake Trasimeno the site of one of Hannibal’s greatest victories; and the Servian Walls in Rome.
Gastronomy: The cured meats (affettati) of Emilia Romagna and the king of cheeses – Parmigiano Reggiano; balsamic vinegar of Modena; wines of Brunello & Montepulciano; Pecorino cheese from Pienza; The Florentine steak; and Black truffles of Norcia.

Cycling on some of Europe’s most iconic and picturesque bike touring routes through Spain, France and Italy, the Hannibal expedition has it all. If you are up for riding from Spain to Italy through Catalonia, the Pyrenees, Languedoc, Provence, the Alps, Piedmont, Tuscany and Umbria then this is for you! It will be a challenging ride but the cycling, historical and gastronomic highlights are spectacular!
