DAS-Handsling podium at Proper Northern RR
DAS-Handsling rider Sammie Stuart takes second and wins QoM award.
The Proper Northern Road Series, organised by Cold Dark North, kicked off at Capernwray, Lancashire yesterday. DAS-Handsling team took a four rider team. This testing series didn’t disappoint!
The race featured a stacked field of some of the best riders in the UK. As always, it’s was a testing course, and of course there was rain!
The field largely remained together until the fourth lap out of six when two got away and gained almost two minutes on the bunch. As Sammie passed through the finish line for the penultimate time she attacked to scoop up QoM points and was joined by junior rider and eventual winner, Cat Ferguson. Together they continued on, catching and passing the initial breakaway riders and staying away to the finish.
Sammie Stuart picked up her first podium of the season, finishing second, whilst also claiming the Queen of the Mountains Classification.
Behind, the peloton had smashed apart on the final lap. Our next rider home was Lucy Lee in seventh, with Emma Jeffers in twenty-fourth and Sophie Thackray in twenty-eighth. See the full results of both races here.
Next race for the DAS-Handsling team is the Peaks 2-day race. The Peaks 2 Day is a National B stage race on the 19th and 20th of March 2022 in the Peak District. There will be men’s and women’s races with equal prize money, leaders jerseys and KOM jerseys. There will also be a team prize.
