The tenth Bontrager TwentyFour12 is taking place this July
The iconic Bontrager TwentyFour12 is back bigger and better than ever in 2015 to celebrate its tenth year as one of the UK’s top mountain bike events.
Taking place at the much loved Newnham Park near Plymouth on July 25th-26th, the event returns with the same heady mix of world class trails, relaxed atmosphere and great entertainment that has made it such a major part of the UK MTB scene for so long. However, to help celebrate its tenth year at the top, the organisers’ have announced a few new attractions to tempt you.
Camping at Bontrager TwentyFour12 has long been free and a central part of the fun of the event. For 2015 though, not only will you be able to camp trackside in the 2km length of free course side camping spaces but the camping packages have been extended so you can now spend the whole week at the venue. Could this be the perfect family getaway in the sunny South West? Quite possibly!
To make your stay even more entertaining for the whole family, the tenth edition of this great event will also feature ten live music acts catering for a wide range of musical tastes and live coverage of the Tour de France in the now famous Bontrager tipi lounge.
Newnham Park is also a safe and enclosed environment for children to play and ride their bikes so they can have fun with all the new friends they are likely to make with other children from across the country whilst you relax or ride.
So with the non-racers well catered for, how is the tenth edition of Bontrager TwentyFour12 shaping up for the riders?
In a word, epic! The course is being designed to offer something for everyone. Whether it’s lung-busting climbs or thrill-a-second descents that get your juices flowing, this is the event for you.
As ever, there is a range of race categories to choose from depending on your age and how long you or your team wants to ride. In addition to the marathon 24-hour race, there are two 12-hour options – one that starts at midday and the Torchbearer kicking off at midnight. Within each race there is a choice of solo, pair or team entry as well as the one off ‘Just for Ten’ relay option for teams of up to 10 people. However, at time of writing, the Men’s Solo 12 and 24-hour category are sold out so it is strongly advised to register quickly for your chosen category to avoid disappointment.
Exposure will be offering free light charging for those riding through the night and will have their full hire fleet available. Revolution Sports Massage will be on hand to give all riders a free post ride massage. Juice Lubes will be offering free bike washes across the weekend and, new sponsor, Topeak will be looking after any underinflated tyres – and don’t forget all entrants get a free Clif bar.
As Topeak’s Chris Stuckey explains, Bontrager TwentyFour12 2015 is set to be a classic, “Topeak are proud to be involved with an event that has continued to grow in size and popularity over recent years and which provides a fun and rewarding weekend for both serious competitors and families alike. The course is demanding, but fun. You’ll love it.”
The last word though has to go to Bontrager. As title sponsors for many years, the brand has supported both the event and grassroots MTB racing in the UK from the very start.
“Bontrager Twentyfour12 has that successful blend of fun yet challenging riding and a great atmosphere for competitors, their friends and their families which has made it the racer’s favourite for 9 years running,” said Helen Guesford, Marketing Manager for Bontrager UK. “This year it hits the big one-oh, and we are very excited to once again bring you the UK’s most fun endurance race where we hope you will join us in wishing Bontrager Twentyfour12 a happy 10th birthday!”
