Smiling is compulsory on the Etape!

The Etape du Sussex Cyclosportive has a special town centre start and finish in the heart of Burgess hill shopping area, and with three different routes, entrants can choose a route to suit their level.

You can view the maps for the three routes of the Etape du Sussex Cyclosportive below:-
The Classic Route @ 87 miles
The Challenge Route @ 60 miles
The Tour route @ 47 miles

All the routes of the Etape du Sussex travel through the pleasant rolling roads of Ditchling and Chailey Common, and although not the hilliest cyclosportive in the SRS Events series, the Etape du Sussex does have a few hills to conquer; it is fair to say that the Etape du Sussex Cyclosportive, to use a football turn of phrase, is a game of two halves. Most of the major hills come in the first half of the route based in the beautiful area of the Ashdown Forest, which is in the first 25 miles of this Cyclosportive. On this event riders will be pleased to know that the more gradual ascents in the Ashdown Forest have been chosen and riders are rewarded with a fast descent down the infamous Kidds Hill.

A quick warm up before the hills, then a rolling route to the finish, can you get a gold?

The further riders travel on the route of the Etape du Sussex the flatter the roads get, meaning that some thought will have to go into riding the routes, especially the longest route – the Classic – if a gold standard award is what’s coveted.

Sportident will be timing each entrant electronically and after the event entrants will be able to download a certificate, which will list their time and the achievement standard they met, targets for which will be given for men and women, and for different age groups.

Feed stations around the routes will give riders a chance to refuel their bodies and prepare for the next part of the ride, whilst mechanics will be on call should riders have mechanical issues and a broom wagon will be available for anybody that can’t make it back…

Sponsors Avelo Images will be arranging free downloads of photographs taken during the event and riders will also receive a free race inner tube from Continental Tyres worth £4.50. There’s also a free snack meal after the ride available to riders, providing a chance to socialise after the ride and compare times.

Entries are still available along with further reductions for group entries of 4 or more. Riders who enter the Etape du Sussex Cycloportive will be entitled to 10% off the standard price of future cyclosportives organised by SRS Events in 2013. It’s not too late to enter, but get your entry in as soon as possible; the closing date for entries is the 20th June.
