Strava Photos, Efforts, Leaderboard Updates

Strava has unveiled Strava Photos, its new photo sharing functionality, a new My Recent Efforts feature and improved Leaderboards. All these features are available in the newly updated Strava mobile App (iOS and Android). The updated App is available now on the App Store and Google Play Store respectively.

Whereas before you had to use Instagram, the new Strava Photos allows you to attach photos to activities directly via the mobile camera app or from your photo album. It’s among a number of changes on the updated app, designated version 4.4, designed to make Strava even more social, enhancing the social experience, the performance analysis aspects and the design of the user interface.

Strava athletes have already shared more than 10 million photos through Instagram, but Strava Photos should be a huge improvement by allowing the addition of as many photos as you like, added whenever you like.

My Recent Efforts

My Recent Efforts allows you to analyse and compare past segment performances from your mobile device, making it easier than ever for athletes to ‘analyse their activities, track improvement over time and find motivation to train’.

Improved leaderboards

Redesigned mobile leaderboards gives easier access to segment rankings among tose you follow, Clubs and the rest of the Strava community. If you have Strava Premium you can now also access personalised leaderboards on your mobile for quick comparisons against others of the similar weight or age.

“Version 4.4 really enhances the Strava mobile experience for our athletes,” says Aaron Forth, Chief Product Officer at Strava. “Strava Photos adds more depth to the stories Strava athletes tell one another through their activities. My Recent Efforts and the improved leaderboards will enable athletes using smartphones to track their progress over time, while also seeing how their performances stack up among the athletes and Clubs they follow. All of the new and updated features are elegantly designed and integrated into the app. Version 4.4 has exciting new features while still providing an intuitive and engaging experience.”

As usual all these features are free from the App Store or Google Play, though for Premium features it is £3.99 per month or £39.99 per year.
