The Roy Thame Cup run by the Hemel Hempstead CC, and The Hounslow’s Peter Young Memorial Road Race are both longstanding features of the early season, West London calendar. This year, for the first time, British Cycling Central region has decided to link the two events with prizes for the best rider overall in the two events.

This will be a challenging weekend for those entering both races, since the Hemel’s event on the Saturday (14th March) is 78 miles and the Hounslow’s the following day is 87 miles. However the organisers believe there are plenty of tough guys out there willing to take this on. There is a trophy and a cash prize on offer – the exact amount will be announced in the next few days.

Although the Hounslow event should have a full field, the Roy Thame Cup had only attracted 54 entries as of Monday 16th Feb. In any case, no selection of riders will be made until the closing date – so you all have until this Sunday (22nd Feb.) to put your hat in the ring…
