What happens if you get a load of cyclocross riders and create a town centre crit circuit, albeit with a bit of mud and a few boards thrown in, that’s perfect for them? You get crit-cross.
OK so that’s a term we just made up, but you do get the Cyclocross Masters event held at Waregem which took place on February 27th 2013. It’s designed to be an end of season celebration of cyclo-cross and the mixed format includes a range of short races including men versus women and time trials, as well as the usual main men’s race we have in this video.
Here we get to see newly crowned World Champion, Sven Nys in action. Enjoy the video and be prepared for the craziest crit-cross course you have ever seen, though in Belgium it seems that anything goes and reminds us of the story of a race that passes through a pub.
In the end, perhaps unsurprisingly, Nys came out tops…
